WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - Police are investigating a reported break-in and attempted arson at a woman’s house in Waterloo.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1Hq1f1f ) that Christi Sanders left her home for a few days to stay with relatives. When an uncle visited the home on Tuesday, he noticed that the natural gas on the stove had been turned on. Police say the uncle also discovered scorch marks on a couch from a fire that apparently burned itself out.

Waterloo Police Capt. David Mohlis says fire damage was limited to the couch. A 32-inch flat-screen television was taken from the home. Police say the intruder apparently entered through a window that had been broken days earlier by a child.

No arrests have been made.
