JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey’s Department of Environmental Protection is warning residents not to have direct contact with the lower Hudson River or fish in those waters due to a sewer main break.

The DEP says a sewer main break is requiring the Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority to discharge untreated sewage into the Upper Bay near Liberty State Park Marina and from other points in the lower Hudson River.

The advisory for the lower Hudson River, New York Bay and Kill Van Kull will remain in effect until further notice.
