BEATRICE, Neb. (AP) - All facilities at the Homestead National Monument of America will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on Nov. 27, but its trail system will remain open during the day.

Visitors are welcome to hike from the Heritage Center and Education Center parking lots. Normal weekday hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. will resume on Nov. 28. That day will also mark the kickoff of the Junior Ranger Weekend and Winter Festival of Prairie Cultures.

Weekend hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The monument’s buildings will also be closed on Dec. 25, and Jan. 1.
