ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Police in Albuquerque say two people are dead after a truck that was reported stolen crashed into their vehicle.

Officer Fred Duran says officers found the pickup and an overturned sedan shortly after 11:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Bellamah Avenue and Rio Grande Boulevard.

Duran says officers saw two people flee from the pickup into a residential neighborhood.

Officers located them and they are in custody.

Authorities say four people were in the sedan. One died at the scene and another was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The other two remain hospitalized in critical condition.

Duran says the truck was reported stolen earlier this month.

Police are not releasing identities pending notification of next of kin.

Because the investigation is ongoing, it’s unknown what charges the suspects face.
