PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say a Philadelphia officer responding to a report of a person with a gun has been hit by a vehicle.

Philly.com (https://bit.ly/1y0tDSe ) reports that the officer was on foot in the North Philadelphia East neighborhood early Saturday night when he was struck by a vehicle that was fleeing the scene.

He was in stable condition at Hahnemann University Hospital.

Police say a suspect was apprehended and a weapon was recovered.
