CINCINNATI (AP) - A police officer and a fire official were injured as freezing rain caused icy roads and multiple-car crashes across Ohio.

Cincinnati police say the officer and fire official were injured responding to accidents at Ronald Reagan Highway near Interstate 75 in southwestern Ohio on Saturday morning. A police spokeswoman says a car lost control on the ice and hit a fire truck that slid into a fire official. Another car then lost control and struck the officer. Both were taken to hospitals.

The fire official’s condition wasn’t immediately known. The spokeswoman says the officer’s leg was injured.

Authorities say at least 20 vehicles were involved in a crash on I-75 near Dayton. There were no immediate reports of serious injuries.

Icy roads also were reported in other parts of Ohio.
