YONKERS, N.Y. (AP) - A lawyer for a New York Police Department psychologist says she’ll fight charges that she shot her husband at their suburban home.

The Journal News (https://lohud.us/1xaYM2q ) reports that Emily Dearden was released on $150,000 bond after her arraignment Friday. She’s charged with attempted murder.

Defense lawyer Paul Bergman calls the charges “baseless” and says Dearden will contest them “with every fiber of her body.” He has said Kenneth Dearden was retaliating because his wife filed for divorce.

Police say Kenneth Dearden was shot in the neck at the couple’s Yonkers home on Nov. 14, 2013.

He recently sued his wife, saying she tried to kill him as he slept because she was involved with another man.

The NYPD said last week that Emily Dearden had been placed on administrative duty.
