PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island’s Family Court plans to finalize 21 adoptions at an event to raise awareness about the number of children available for adoption and to explain the adoption process.

The 11th National Adoption Day is Saturday. The court is set to finalize the adoptions with 16 families at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Garrahy Judicial Complex.

Rhode Island’s event, “Rise and Shine- A Celebration of Adoption and Foster Care,” will coincide with events planned across the nation.

Rhode Island Family Court Chief Judge Haiganush R. Bedrosian and the Rhode Island Judiciary are sponsoring the event.
