LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A recruitment and networking fair for job hunters interested in working with three information technology companies moving to Lafayette will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Abdalla Hall.

The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1xA9OlI) the companies - CGI, Enquero and Perficient - plan to fill about 1,000 positions, including software programmers, business analysts and consultants, marketers, graphic designers and communications specialists.

The event is sponsored by the University of Louisiana t Lafayette, the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and the Lafayette Economic Development Authority.

CGI, a Montreal, Canada-based company, announced earlier this year that it plans to hire about 400 people over the next four years. The company will lease office space in a new, $13.1 million state-funded technology center in Lafayette’s Research Park expected to be complete by the end of 2015. Until then, the company will operate in a temporary location.

In July, Enquero announced 350 new jobs for the technology center it plans to open in Lafayette. The vacant jobs will be filled by 2017. The company is based in Milpitas, California, and its technology center will provide software products and services.

In September, the St. Louis, Missouri-based Perficient announced its plans for a software development center and will hire 50 employees by the end of 2015. The company, which provides information technology and management consulting services, plans to hire a total of 245 people within six years.
