BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Burlington man who lives near a middle school sexually assaulted a teenage girl in his home, filmed girls with a hidden camera and possessed thousands of images of child pornography, police said.

Raymond Edwards, 39, pleaded not guilty Thursday to sexual assault on a minor, possession of child pornography and voyeurism and was ordered held without bail.

A mental health worker heard allegations about hidden cameras in Edwards’ home and reported it to the Department for Children and Families, The Burlington Free Press (https://bfpne.ws/1r5eiKY ) reported. A girl said she saw the hidden cameras over the summer, court records said.

Edwards admitted putting cameras in a bathroom and bedroom to film girls and also admitted assaulting one of the girls while she slept two different times, according to court records.

He later told investigators that he didn’t know there was a camera inside a clock he placed in the bathroom and said other people in the home did the filming. He later said he watched the videos and bought the clock knowing it was a camera, according to court documents.

He said webcams in a bedroom were installed to make sure other residents did not steal from him, the records said.

Edwards’ home is near Hunt Middle School.
