CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming Catholic College in Lander is seeking federally recognized accreditation.

College officials say the school is a candidate for accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission. The commission has accredited more than 1,300 schools.

Candidacy comes with a number of benefits, such as acceptance of the college’s credits at other colleges and universities. The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1toqWoj) the school also could become eligible for federal grants and loans.

The liberal arts school was incorporated in 2005. It offers bachelor’s degrees and emphasizes religion and outdoor experiences alongside its curriculum.
