PALMDALE, Calif. (AP) - Three Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were briefly hospitalized after being sickened by fumes while investigating a possible marijuana growing operation in Palmdale.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Clinton Skaggs says the deputies were originally dispatched to a home Saturday night to investigate a dispute between a man and his girlfriend.

Upon their arrival they were alerted there might be a pot-growing operation in an adjacent building.

The three were sickened by chemicals when they entered. They were taken to a hospital after complaining of lightheadedness.

They were released after about two hours.

Skaggs says fire and hazardous materials officials determined a chemical mixture in the building caused the stench. It wasn’t immediately known which chemicals caused it.

Skaggs says no one was arrested.

The small pot-growing operation was determined to be legal.
