MINOT, N.D. (AP) - Minot Air Force Base is preparing for its Thanksgiving Day event for local senior citizens.

Mary Larson with the Minot Commission on Aging tells the Minot Daily News (https://bit.ly/1vtpIPk ) that at least 85 residents have signed up to attend the “Day of Love” event and reservations are still being taken. About 200 individuals attended the celebration last year.

Senior citizens receive a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings during the event and get to socialize with others. Buses from the base pick up the participants in downtown Minot and drive them to the facility.

Many airmen and civilian personnel volunteer to help in the decades old event at the bases’ Jimmy Doolittle Center. Two base wing commanders are scheduled to give speeches this year.
