CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago’s newly installed Roman Catholic archbishop is announcing some key administrative appointments.

Archbishop Blase Cupich (blayz SOO’-pich) was installed Tuesday to replace outgoing Cardinal Francis George, who is retiring as he battles cancer.

Cupich’s office says the Rev. Ronald Hicks will serve as the archdiocese’s new vicar general starting in January. Hicks is a director of formation at the University of St. Mary of the Lake and Mundelein Seminary.

Cupich also named the Rev. Kevin Birmingham as his administrative secretary. Birmingham is pastor of Maternity BVM Parish in Chicago.

Cupich is archbishop of the nation’s third-largest diocese.
