LIVINGSTON, Ala. (AP) - The new president of the University of West Alabama, Ken Tucker, will take the helm on Jan. 1.

The Demopolis Times reports (https://bit.ly/1yEynw4 ) the university’s board of trustees recently selected Tucker following a nationwide search conducted by a committee of various campus representatives and trustees. Tucker has been serving as dean of the university’s College of Business.

Tucker was one of two finalists and will replace interim President John G. Blackwell who did not get the job.

Tucker said he’ll work “tirelessly and collaboratively” with the entire university community and praised Blackwell for the what he was able to accomplish in a short time.
