PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia police say an officer was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a suspect’s fleeing vehicle.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the city’s Kensington section about 5 p.m. Saturday. That’s when the suspect tried to drive away and hit the officer, whose name hasn’t been released.

Police officials say he was being treated at Hahnemann Hospital.

The suspect was taken into custody, but police have yet to release that person’s identity or say whether he’s been charged with injuring the officer or in the original shooting, or both.

It was not immediately clear whether someone was injured in the shooting, or how badly.

Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment Sunday.
