IRVINGTON, N.J. (AP) - Two men have died following a street shooting in northern New Jersey.

Essex County prosecutors say the shooting occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Irvington.

The men - Shaquille Kirkland and Dashawn James, both 20-year-old residents of Irvington - were walking on the 600 block of Chancellor Avenue when they were shot. Kirkland was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later, while James was taken to a hospital where he died about an hour after the shooting.

Further details on the shooting have not been disclosed, including what type of weapon was used and how many shooters may have been involved. The names of the victims also have not been released.

A motive for the shooting remains under investigation. No arrest have been made.
