PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) - The Arkansas Valley Super Ditch is trying to find water after previously coming up dry.

Advocates are proposing to lease up to 500 acre-feet of water from the Catlin Canal to Fountain, Security and Fowler under new state legislation.

Under the plan, Fowler would get about half of the water.

According to the Pueblo Chieftain (https://tinyurl.com/n29yt8u), the legislation allows pilot programs that demonstrate the effectiveness of temporary transfers of water that dry up irrigated fields.

A similar program was aborted in 2012 due to drought.
