TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A new hotel in Tucson will be the site of a members-only hangout for University of Arizona faculty.

The Arizona Daily Star reports (https://bit.ly/1qPQlg8) that the university is poised to sign a 20-year agreement to lease part of the hotel to establish a “University Club.”

The Arizona Board of Regents approved the deal Thursday after learning no public money will be involved.

Annual membership fees of $300 for faculty and staff and $1,500 for alumni will help fund the club’s operation.

The 7,200-square-foot space will be a gathering place primarily for faculty. It will include bar and lounge areas and dining and meeting space.

The hotel is being built just west of the UA campus as part of a retail development.

UA officials say construction will begin next year.
