BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Most of the western New York school districts hit hard by last week’s record-breaking snowstorm will remain closed Monday.

That includes Buffalo’s public schools. Even though a majority of the district’s schools had no snow-related issues from the lake-effect storm, school officials say the safety of students waiting at bus stops could not be assured.

Still, all staff are expected to report Monday and interim Superintendent Donald Ogilvie says he’s hopeful that all city schools will be open Tuesday.

Elsewhere in western New York, four of the hardest-hit districts have called off classes for all of the holiday week, and officials already are trying to figure out when that lost time can be made up.
