ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Firefighters have taken time to comfort young children and show them their equipment following a small fire at a northern Upper Peninsula motel.

TV station WBUP-WBKP reports (https://bit.ly/1v2vC7n ) the fire caused minor damage Sunday in a room at the Triangle Motel in Ishpeming Township. A relative of the motel’s co-owner used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames before firefighters arrived.

The guests weren’t in their room when the fire broke out and no injuries were reported. It appeared to be caused by books and papers that were too close to a heater.

After addressing the incident, firefighters comforted the owner’s grandchildren and showed them the inside of their trucks to cheer them up.
