BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - The owners of South Mississippi’s new Double-A baseball affiliate are ready to release the team’s name.

The announcement will come Monday from team owners and staff during a 5:30 p.m. rally at the Saenger Theater, just a short distance from where the team will play at the MGM Stadium under construction on U.S. Highway 90.

There was the contest that let the fans choose their favorite names for the team that narrowed it down to six finalists. Will it be the Biloxi Shuckers, Schooners, Beacon, Mullet, Shrimpers or Black Jacks?

Buck Rogers, the team’s general manager, tells The Sun Herald (https://bit.ly/1tpEika ) the team is protecting the name until the big reveal so the fans get to experience this momentous event for the franchise and the city.
