CINCINNATI (AP) - Police are continuing to investigate the death of a 5-year-old boy shot in the face in southwest Ohio in what police say may have been an accidental shooting.

Police spokeswoman Tiffaney Hardy said Monday that it initially appears that the shooting of 5-year-old Daniel Reddmond Hamilton was an accident. But she said no additional details about the shooting were immediately available.

Hardy said the boy’s father brought him to a hospital Sunday afternoon. The child was pronounced dead soon afterward.

A statement Monday from the Hamilton County coroner said a single gunshot wound to the face and related injuries caused the boy’s death.
