PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Maine’s main seasons for deer and moose hunting are getting started.

The firearms season for deer begins Monday and runs until Nov. 29. Two moose sessions also begin on Monday. One session runs until Nov. 8 and is restricted to wildlife management districts 1 through 4 and 19, four of which are clustered in northern Maine. Another runs until Nov. 29 and includes districts 15, 16, 22, 23, 25 and 26, which are in southern and coastal Maine.

Earlier, shorter moose hunting sessions took place in September and October. The deer and moose hunts’ “resident only” day took place on Saturday.
