DEERFIELD, Mass. (AP) - State police say a moose was killed when it was struck by a car on Interstate 91 in Deerfield.

The car, a Mini Cooper, was totaled, but the driver who was alone in the vehicle escaped without injury after the crash reported at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

The driver’s name was not made public.

The car struck the moose in the northbound lanes.

One lane was closed while State Environmental Police responded to the scene to remove the moose.
