WILMINGTON, N.Y. (AP) - The management plan for the Wilmington Wild Forest near Lake Placid is under review for improvement of trails.

State Department of Environmental Conservation Regional Director Robert Stegemann says the review is in response to requests from local government and other organizations to provide additional trails there.

A public meeting will be held at the Whiteface Mountain Ski Center at 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 12.

Currently, there are about 33 miles of trails, with 23 miles open to mountain bikes and eight miles of snowmobile trails.

The Wilmington Wild Forest is located in the towns of Wilmington and Keene in Essex County and the town of Black Brook in Clinton County. The core area is on the east-facing slopes of Whiteface Mountain.
