COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Gas prices in Ohio continue to stay below $3 per gallon to start the work week.

A gallon of regular gas was averaging $2.95 in Monday’s survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX Inc. That’s up about a penny from a week ago but is about 31 cents cheaper than at this time last year.

Among Ohio’s metropolitan areas, the Toledo area has the lowest average at about $2.92 per gallon.

The national average was $2.98 Monday. That’s 6 cents less than a week ago and about 37 cents less than a year ago at this time.

AAA expects gas prices to remain low through the end of the year.
