PILOT MOUNTAIN, N.C. (AP) - Some river access to Pilot Mountain State Park will be closed to allow for a stream restoration of Horne Creek in Surry County.

State officials say the Bean Shoals Access on the northern side of the Yadkin River section will be closed beginning Monday. The closure is expected to last until April 1.

The closure will affect the access entrance road and trails as well as group campsites.

As the project continues, state officials expect to reopen some trails for hike-in and equestrian access on weekends.

The stream restoration will reduce sediment from Horne Creek into the Yadkin river. The project is supported by a $375,000 grant from the N.C. Clean Water Management Trust Fund and a $25,000 grant from the N.C. Division of Water Resources.
