AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a 5-year-old boy is dead after he was struck by a motorcycle in Augusta.

The Augusta Chronicle reports ( ) the boy, identified as Cameron Walker, was struck after he ran into the street Saturday afternoon. Deputy Coroner Kenneth Boose said the child was pronounced dead at Georgia Regents Medical Center.

Richmond County sheriff’s Sgt. Shane McDaniel says a Suzuki dirt bike driven by a 33-year-old man struck the boy. He says charges against the driver are pending.

Authorities say the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is expected to perform an autopsy on the child.
