EDINBURGH, Scotland (AP) - Defender Virgil van Dijk scored twice as Celtic eased into the last 16 of the Scottish Cup with a 4-0 win over 10-man Hearts at Tynecastle on Sunday.

An already difficult task for the second-tier leaders became daunting after eight minutes when captain Morgaro Gomis was sent off for a challenge on Scott Brown.

Scottish Premiership leader Celtic had to wait until the 28th minute before Van Dijk shot the visitors into the lead following a corner.

The second half turned into a rout. John Guidetti scored his 11th of the season from the penalty spot in the 51st after being tripped by Brad McKay.

Fellow forward Anthony Stokes made it 3-0 with a drive three minutes later before Van Dijk headed in Stefan Johansen’s corner in the 61st.
