ODESSA, Texas (AP) - An 18-year-old man with Down’s syndrome is home safe after two fitness instructors found him in a basketball game.

KWES-TV reports (https://bit.ly/11FDNvZ ) that Rodrigo Rojas disappeared from his Odessa home while going outside to take out the trash.

He turned up several hours later at a gym at Odessa College, where instructors Esther Avila and Celina Brito first spotted him joining a basketball team in warmups. Eventually, Rojas made his way to a concession area, where the instructors noticed he appeared lost.

They gave Rojas snacks and juice, and called campus authorities who contacted Odessa police and were able to identify him.

Rojas and his sister were quickly reunited.

Brito jokes that Rojas is welcome back anytime, as long as he brings his mother or sister with him.
