LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities say a man was flown to a hospital in critical condition after an assault on a trail in Griffith Park in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles fire spokeswoman Katherine Main tells the Los Angeles Times the victim was critical when he was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and had been stabilized Monday night.

LAPD Officer Jane Kim tells City News Service police set up a command post at the edge of the park and were searching for two men suspected of assault with a deadly weapon after the afternoon attack. She would not say more about the suspects or the victim.

Griffith Park - one of the largest urban parks in the country - has a number of trails that are popular with hikers, joggers and dog walkers.
