Republican Dave Joyce has won election to a second term representing northeast Ohio in the U.S. House.

On Tuesday, former county prosecutor Dave Joyce defeated Democrat Michael Wager (WAY’-ger) and Libertarian David Macko.

Democrats earlier in the year said they considered Joyce vulnerable in the 14th District, which isn’t as heavily Republican as most of Ohio’s other GOP-held seats.

The two leading candidates ripped each other in late-campaign advertising. Wager’s ads described Joyce as “just another greedy congressman,” while Joyce’s ads called Wager “a desperate politician who will say anything.”

Wager is an attorney and a former chairman of the Cleveland-Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) Port Authority. He hasn’t held major elective office.
