PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - The Portland Fire Bureau says two people escaped their burning house early Wednesday thanks to smoke alarms.

LT. Damon Simmons tells The Oregonian (https://bit.ly/1okaQ3c ) the two-story home was fully involved in flames about 2 a.m. when firefighters arrived.

Firefighters had to deal with a downed power line in the front yard and fire burning in spaces inside the walls.
