FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - A second man has been arrested in the theft of two rifles from a pair of locked Fort Collins police cars.

The Coloradoan reports (https://noconow.co/1Gq9Mk9 ) 27-year-old Wesley Aaron Sartin was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of first-degree criminal trespassing and theft. Carlos J. Chavez, also 27, has already been charged in the theft.

Police say the agency-issued semi-automatic AR-15 rifles were stored in locks inside the passenger compartments of the cars when they were removed.

A debit card with Chavez’s name was found in the second vehicle, and detectives contacted a bank investigator to assist, according to court documents. Chavez reported the card stolen Oct. 24, the same day the rifles were discovered missing.

Police, who recovered the rifles near Fairplay, did not say how they connected Sartin to the theft. Both men are from Denver.
