ROYALTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Three Berrien County residents have been arrested on charges of home invasion and assault with intent to murder.

Mario Clarke of Benton Township, Marcus McNear and Trevor Sims of Benton Harbor were arrested Wednesday in connection with a Royalton Township home invasion. Police say the men fired shots at the 28-year-old homeowner after she confronted them and began chasing them in her car along a nearby highway.

Police say the car the men were driving crashed, and then they took off on foot. Police say they were able to track down the suspects and arrested them. They’re being held at the Berrien County Jail.

The men are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday. Court records don’t indicate an attorney.

Detectives will continue to investigate whether the crime was random.
