CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Secretary of State Max Maxfield says preliminary numbers indicate that 65 percent of Wyoming voters cast ballots in Tuesday’s general election.

Unofficial results show nearly 171,000 ballots were cast.

In addition, Maxfield says it appears no recounts are required in any statewide or legislative races based on the unofficial election results submitted by county clerks.

And he noted that none of the write-in candidates for state offices received more votes than candidates whose names were printed on the ballot.

The most high profile write-in candidate was Taylor Haynes in the governor’s race.

Maxfield says if write-in votes had no effect on the outcome of the election, his office doesn’t ask the county clerks to report those figures.
