MILAN (AP) - AC Milan won 2-0 against San Lorenzo of Argentina, Pope Francis’ favorite team, in the Trofeo Berlusconi on Wednesday.

Giampaolo Pazzini sidefooted home Riccardo Saponara’s deflected cross from close range to open the scoring on the half hour mark.

M’Baye Niang hit the bar for Milan while Pablo Barrientos’s long-range effort cannoned off the left upright for San Lorenzo before Giacomo Bonaventura sealed the match five minutes from time, after Fernando Torres’ strike was parried into his path.

Milan’s 16-year-old prodigy Hachim Mastour almost scored a stunning goal but his 25-yard (meter) strike flew just wide of the right upright.

The friendly match is usually played against Juventus in August but had to be rescheduled and was instead played against the Copa Libertadores holders.
