SPRINGDALE, Ark. (AP) - A panel discussion that explores the health disparities, cultural understanding and social policies of the state’s thousands of Marshallese residents has been scheduled for next week.

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Northwest will explore the issues at a free health forum Nov. 13 at the Jones Center Chapel in Springdale.

Northwest Arkansas is home to between 8,000 and 12,000 Marshallese residents - the largest Marshallese population in the U.S., according to the researchers. They descend from the small Pacific island nation called the Marshall Islands.
