PARIS, Maine (AP) - A Bowdoinham man charged with assaulting and raping a woman last summer in Hartford has pleaded not guilty.

Christopher Jones faces charges of gross sexual assault, aggravated assault, domestic violence and criminal threatening in connection with the alleged assault in June in which he’s accused of duct-taping the woman’s hands together.

The 39-year-old Jones was held after his arraignment Tuesday in Oxford County Superior Court in lieu of $5,000 bail.

The Sun Journal (https://bit.ly/1x5Eaec ) reports that Jones’ lawyer sought lower bail, saying his client had no prior criminal history, complied with investigators and court dates and already had an active protection order out against him, ensuring that he would not contact the alleged victim.
