DETROIT (AP) - City residents seeking help to repair damage from flooding caused by heavy rain this summer can apply for Federal Emergency Management Agency funding at a Detroit enrollment and information fair.

The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the city’s Northwest Activities Center.

City and FEMA officials will be on hand to answer questions, process assistance applications and track requests already made. The deadline to apply for FEMA flood aid is Nov. 24.

A storm that started Aug. 11 dumped more than 6 inches of rain on some areas in southeastern Michigan. Parts of freeways were flooded and thousands of homes were damaged by the water.

Damage and cleanup costs have been estimated in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
