DORTMUND, Germany (AP) - Police have arrested 21 Galatasaray fans and opened an attempted manslaughter probe in connection with violence at the Champions League match at Borussia Dortmund.

Police also detained and checked the identities of 700 Galatasaray supporters around Tuesday’s match. Authorities say most of them are German residents.

Galatasaray fans set off firecrackers, smoke bombs and hurled flares, chairs and other objects at Dortmund supporters, briefly interrupting the match twice.

There were also disturbances before the match, and police prevented a clash between the rival fans after the game won by Dortmund 4-1.

Police reported no injuries.
