CATSKILL, N.Y. (AP) - State police say they’ve charged a 19-year-old man with arson and attempted murder for setting fire to a Hudson Valley house occupied by a family of six.

Troopers say the police and fire departments in Catskill responded around 4 a.m. Monday to a house fire in the Greene County village located 30 miles south of Albany.

Officials say the fire caused extensive damage to the rear of the house. The six family members made it out safely.

An investigation was launched after fire investigators determined the blaze had been intentionally set.

Troopers say they arrested Caleb Segura of Catskill and charged him with felony counts of attempted murder and reckless endangerment.

He’s being held in the county jail on $1 million bail. It couldn’t be determined if he has a lawyer.
