MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A Robbinsdale man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for fatally shooting a bystander.

A jury convicted 23-year-old Marlon Robertson of first-degree murder in the June 2013 killing of 21-year-old Kevin Braziel in Minneapolis. The jury also found him guilty of attempted second-degree murder of two men standing near Braziel and witness intimidation. The verdicts followed an 11-day trial.

Authorities say Braziel died in the gang-related shooting in which eight shots were fired outside a restaurant. They say Roberston and his friends wanted to kill one of the men standing near Braziel for cooperating with police in an earlier investigation.
