PRINCETON, W.Va. (AP) - A Wyoming County man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and will testify at his father’s trial.

Media outlets report that 22-year-old Oscar Combs Jr. entered his plea Tuesday in Mercer County Circuit Court. He also pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery.

Assistant Mercer County prosecutor John McGinnis tells the Bluefield Daily Telegraph (https://bit.ly/1tAqyX7 ) that the first-degree murder trial of Combs’ father, 44-year-old Oscar Combs Sr., has been rescheduled for Jan. 6, 2015. The new trial date was set Wednesday.

The charges stem from the fatal shooting of James “Bo” Butler of Summers County. Butler’s body was found in April 2011 over a hillside near the Wyoming-Mercer county line.

Murder and other charges against the elder Combs’ ex-wife, 38-year-old Linda Ann Combs, were dropped in exchange for her testimony.
