MONTE SERENO, Calif. (AP) - An alleged Oakland gang member has been convicted of murder in the slaying of a wealthy Silicon Valley venture capitalist inside his Monte Sereno mansion.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1xbDQd2) Marcellous Drummer was convicted Tuesday and faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. He is expected to be sentenced Nov. 21.

The 27-year-old Drummond is the first of three defendants to be tried and convicted in the November 2012 killing of 66-year-old Raveesh Kumra.

Authorities say Kumra died of asphyxiation after his assailants left him gagged with packaging tape as they beat his wife.

Authorities believe Kumra, a cellphone entrepreneur and former owner of a popular winery concert venue, was set up by a prostitute he had hired who told Oakland gang members about his lifestyle.
