ODESSA, Texas (AP) - Emergency personnel responding to a report of a possible gas leak have found an elderly woman and her daughter dead in their West Texas house.

Odessa police Cpl. Steve LeSueur (luh-SWEER’) said Thursday that investigators do not suspect foul play in the deaths of 88-year-old Jimmi Lane and 66-year-old Sherrie Wilson.

LeSueur says a person who works with Wilson stopped by the home Wednesday morning to pick her up. The person knocked on the door but there was no answer. LeSueur says the co-worker also reported a strong smell of gas.

Firefighters who entered the home confirmed high carbon monoxide readings.

The Ector County Medical Examiner’s Office says the bodies would be transported to Fort Worth for autopsies.
