FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - One of two men who authorities say sexually assaulted a young girl has been sentenced to five years of probation.

The Southwest Times Record reports (https://bit.ly/1onxOGz ) 54-year-old Leon Russell of Van Buren pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual assault in exchanged for the suspended sentence. He must also register as a sex offender.

The other man accused in the case is wanted by authorities. A judge issued a warrant for 40-year-old David Todd of Fort Smith after he failed to show up for a mandatory appearance. He pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree sexual assault in May.

Authorities say Todd took care of the minor and her siblings while her mother was in jail. Russell’s relationship to the girl is unclear.
