TAWAS CITY, Mich. (AP) - A 2-year-old girl has been found safe in a wooded area nearly a full day after wandering away from her northern Michigan home.

State police Lt. Brian Cole says a tracking dog located Brooklyn Lilly about noon Thursday.

She was near creek and three-quarters of a mile from her Tawas City home.

Cole says the girl has some superficial cuts and was to be taken to an area hospital for observation.

Police say Brooklyn last was seen about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities had been searching on foot and also called in aviation units to help find the girl.

Tawas City is in Iosco County, about 130 miles north of Detroit.
