NEW YORK (AP) - A former Catholic high school athletic director has resigned from the school in the wake of statutory rape charges against a coach under his supervision.

The Staten Island Advance (https://bit.ly/1x6tBKH ) says Richard Postiglione’s resignation was announced by Moore Catholic High School Principal Robert Manisero.

Postiglione stepped down in October as the school’s athletic director but remained director of the school’s finance and operations.

The basketball coach under his supervision, 24-year-old Megan Mahoney, was arraigned last month on charges of rape and criminal sexual act. Prosecutors say she had sexual encounters with a student who was 16 from October 2013 until January. She resigned in January. Her attorney has denied the accusations.
